We only get a couple of days this week, but …

I wanted to give you an update on the progress of the implementation of the Pastoral Plan.

This week we are moving strongly in the direction of collecting responses from the local Collaboratives.  We are starting to develop a list of possible Phase One Collaboratives, so this is interesting work.  Phase One is so very important to our ongoing process that we need to take our time and get the list right.

Lots of the Parishes have been responding to the letters, and we hope that all will do so in the coming days.

In the meantime, plans are proceeding apace for Stage One training.  Stage One will be the training of the Pastoral Center and Central Ministries staffs.  It will be very similar to the trainings held in each of the Collaboratives going forward.  There will be training in Evangelization, in Leadership and Management, and in the mechanics of Collaboration.  We want everyone here to be thinking in this mode, so that we can be of the best support possible to the Collaboratives as they come online in the next few years.

Keep your eye on the Year of Faith website.  Lots of good things are going up there every day.

From what I have read, I think that this is a very exciting and practical way to keep our beautiful Church moving forward. Have collaboratives feels personal and unified, It seems to me that when churches are districted together, they know their communities best and what will work best in their area for faith formation, social work and outreach, and of course financial needs and obligations. I look forward to seeing this all come together and for the point when the laity can be involved.

Thank you, Lynne. Slow and steady is the best way. The Spirit is at work here, and we will watch for great things to happen.

And, as you say, there is no doubt that the role of the lay people of our Parishes is fundamental here. Evangelization is the work, fundamentally, of the laity, and Evangelization is the heart of Disciples in Mission.
